Explore all the wonderful activities and sights Kimberley has to offer. Home to the famous Kimberley Big Hole, guests are sure to have a memorable experience seeing one of South Africa’s key tourist sites. Adjacent to the Big Hole is the Kimberley Mine Museum Village which offers numerous informative trips to the 19th century mining mecca of South Africa. Tours include the Underground Mine Experience by which visitors can enter a re-creation of a typical 19th century mine. An Exhibition Centre also has displays of photographs and original artefacts from the mining period, along with numerous machines used in the diamond extracting process.

Try not to forget the Flamingos on the Jo’burg Road!! One of the largest gatherings of both Greater and Lesser Flamingos in Africa, these magnificent birds have recently started breeding on man-made islands in the natural pan known as Kamfersdam (Diebel’s Vlei).

In addition to these, the Barkly West treasures – Wildebeeskuil and Nooitgedacht, the Honoured Dead Memorial and Long Cecil Monument, the Kimberley Club, Magersfontein Kop and Battlefield, William Humphreys Art Gallery and the McGregor Museum (the Sanatorium) are part of the Seven Wonders of Kimberley and definitely deserve a visit.
